I didn't know anything about San Diego before I went for the interview- but when your syked about Linux & programming nothing else matters, right? Norway sounds like New Jersey in terms of software engineering positions. That aside- If you got a camera I'd check out La Jolla Cove it's got some fantastic views. La Jolla Cove consists of several small beaches and it's landscape/cave system is very cool. I wasn't impressed with any of the other beaches in San Diego but I don't do the beach thing very much. If you get the chance, you should check out The Gaslamp Quarter on a weekend night if you haven't already. It's so full of life and beautiful people. I own a condo there and is my favorite place to be besides the beach.
