Moved to San Diego

The Exploratorium in San FranciscoAs you might have read, I’ve moved to San Diego. I’ve joined a great team at MP3tunes and will be applying my expertise to a project called Oboe. That’s about all I can say at this point.

On my way to San Diego I stopped by San Francisco. I met up with some of the people at the EFF and Seth Schoen demonstrated the research they’ve been doing into printers that spy on you. Unfortunately I did not have much time in San Francisco, but I did get to visit the Exploratorium.

I will try to get back to everyone who has emailed me recently. If you haven’t received a response by Monday, feel free to resend your email.

It’s like my life’s dream or something.

  3. I wonder what the manufacturers got out of the deal with the American gov’t for allowing these personal markers to be secretly printed onto people’s copies…

  4. Good for you, Jon! I, like hundreds of us, have been following all the news and reports about you for a long while now. It’s great to see that you’re moving up and onwards into bigger, and hopefully better, things. I wish you all the best in your new venture and I’ll be interested to see just how everything goes for you =)

  5. I guess now you’ll get your wish and get your ass sued now ๐Ÿ˜‰ You’ll be the next Dymitri.

  6. Welcome to Southern California! Perhaps not the best forums to ask, but I was wondering if you would be interested in speaking in front of a couple student organizations at Loyola Law School, please email me when you get settled and if you are interested.

  7. I read about you in The Wall Street Journal and I think what you’re doing is awesome!

  13. Welcome to Southern California! Do you have a tan yet ??? ๐Ÿ™‚

Being a native of Southern California, trust me, from now on, if you travel anywhere else, you’ll end up coming back saying “Ahh.. there’s no place like home….”

P.S. Welcome to $2.40 USD gasoline and inexpensive cars (If you’re looking for a cheap NEW car, I just picked up a 2005 Dodge Neon SXT 5 speed fully loaded for $9,900 w/ 7 year warranty…)

  14. My first visit to the Exploratorium was on the weekend of their Bubble Festival. I hope it is a repeated event. Ah, the wonder of a small wading pool full of bubble solution ๐Ÿ™‚

  15. Welcome to San Diego! Drop a line if you would like a free beer, coffee, etc. It would be the least I could do.

  18. Hey John, just watch out for the RIAA/MIAA, your on their DCMA turf now, in fact our legal system requires one to pay to prove their innocence.

The more you can pay, the more innocent you appear. ๐Ÿ˜‰

California has that stupid three strikes your in for life and the US locks up more of it’s own people than just about any other country in the world.

Good luck on HDCP, I know you won’t be taking any visible credit while still in the great USA.

  19. What’s going on man, not sure if you can reply to these posts, but i’d like to sit down with you and discuss ur hymn projects, and possible advances. Maybe a little help too, (not that experienced, but willing to learn) Anyways, a local san diegan always looking to help out… plus the hymn project has immense potential!
