Isn’t baking powder the same thing as baking soda?

  2. JonLech says:

    Janko:

Baking soda is just sodium bicarbonate, while baking powder is sodium bicarbonate mixed with acid salt(s) and starch. The baking powder I use contains sodium bicarbonate, sodium acid pyrophosphate, monocalcium phosphate and corn starch.
